Winter in Ontario – it's hockey season!

Separated by over 450km, Toronto and Ottawa are home to two of Canada's most celebrated NHL teams: the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators. The Battle of Ontario comes alive when they meet in the Northeastern Division of Canada's Eastern Conference. Head for the Air Canada Centre for Maple Leafs action on the ice, or visit the Canadian Tire Centre, home of the Senators.

Hockey's big – but there's plenty to see and do in Ontario's outdoors. Visitors to Ontario enjoy the vast skiing options winter brings. Sudbury, two hours inland of the Georgian Bay, is home to Adanac Ski Hill. Boler Mountain is in London, and features snow tubing, and Easy Street, with its longest run at over 1,400 feet. Or an hour west of Barrie is the Georgian Peaks Club, with 24 of the longest runs in southern Ontario. There are plenty of options for winter sports in Ontario.

From Cobourg head east and discover Belleville. With charming and comfortable accommodations, Belleville yields the kind of stay you'll never forget – especially during winter. Along the Bay of Quinte, you'll enjoy 13km of cycling, hiking, and walking trails – bundle up. Be sure to try some winter-fishing along the Moira River. You'll also be able to check out eight annual events in Ontario, and a wealth of exciting winter fun.

There are also excellent road trips during the winter – Grand River & Beyond Tour, Cornwall to Prince Edward County, and Polar Bear Tour are great options.

Snowshoeing is a popular winter activity in Ontario. Check out the trails across Ontario and explore the province first hand. In Huntsville look for Beaver Meadow Trail – nearly 6km of pristine northern Ontario landscapes to trek through. In Dorset, a scenic 40-minute drive east of Huntsville, you'll find Frost Centre Hiking Trails – 35km of backcountry snowshoeing. With much to do and see, Ontario in winter, is an authentic Canadian experience.
